The Tip-Off Classic in the beginning of basketball season was a great way to get a chance to see the talent throughout Dougherty County. It was a chance for all four Dougherty County schools to compete against one another and to showcase their skills in front of the home crowd.

That was then and this is now, over the weekend once again the schools met, but this time at the Albany Civic Center. The girls started the day off with Dougherty High School taking on the Albany Squaws. Big Region 1-AAAA match-up, with the Lady Trojans coming out on top, winning 55-28. Next for the ladies was the defending region champs; Monroe Lady Tornadoes against the Westover Lady Patriots. In the end, Monroe held on winning by five 37-32.

After two great basketball games the boys took to the hardwood and starting with Dougherty against Albany and a huge region for the Indians 69-47. Finally, for the late game between Westover taking on Monroe and at halftime Westover had the slight edge by one 23-22. That would remain as the Patriots held on for the win 45-41.
