Post 30 starts off state tournament with a win

The American Legion baseball senior and junior state tournaments started Thursday at the Paul Eames Sports Complex.

There are seven teams in the senior tournament, and three in the junior tournament. They will last through Sunday or Monday, depending on how the double-elimination brackets shake out.

Post 30 feels confident about their teams right now. They have some of the best high school ballplayers around, pulling kids from Lee County, Terrell Academy, Deerfield-Windsor, and others. In an effort to revive American Legion baseball, the Post 30 members are behind their boys.

"Come out and see this baseball, because this is all we have left," said Don Norman, Post 30's director of baseball. "It still is a baseball town."

Post 30's senior team played their first tournament game on Thursday night. They won, 11-1.
