Panthers, Lions Rivalry Game Holds Extra Motivation

The Albany Panthers- Columbus Lions rivalry has a little extra momentum for the weekend.

Seasons are at stake for the in-state teams, and with a loss, one team's season is over.

The Panthers can end the Columbus season with a victory in hostile territory, making this week's trip a dangerous one for two reasons.

Albany will have to survive against a desperate Columbus team-- all while doing it on the road. The Panthers are just 1-4 away from the Albany Civic Center this season.

We know that they're fighting for a playoff spot. If they win these last two games, both of them against us, they have a shot at making the playoffs, Panthers head coach Lucious Davis said.

We just have to make sure that we take care of business. We can't worry about them. We can only worry about ourselves.

The Panthers are still playing to host a playoff game. They need to win at least two of their last three for the PIFL playoff hosting opportunity.
