      No Pioneer Bowl for ASU

Albany State's roller coaster football season ended in a perfect way with a 17-14 victory over Miles College to win the S.I.A.C. title.

Unfortunately, there will be no more football for the Golden Rams this season.

With four losses, they didn't qualify for playoff competition. In another year, a conference championship would earn a birth in the Pioneer Bowl. But due to financial issues with the partnering conference, the C.I.A.A., the game was canceled this season.

"I think our seniors would've liked to play another game," said ASU head coach Mike White.

Still, there's something to be said for ending the season on a high note.

"Playing as well as we did this last half of the season sends us into the offseason on a positive," White said.
