It was a signature day, a signature win for the Darton College baseball team. Tuesday night, the Cavaliers defeated nationally-ranked Chipola College on a ninth inning rally.
Wednesday, the team hoped to veer away from that dreaded "let-down" game.
Just barely- Darton survived its test at Cavalier Field against Wallace-Dothan 9-7. After giving up a five run lead in the fifth inning, the Cavaliers had to claw back to hold off the Governors.
It was a tie game at one after three innings. The Cavaliers used timely singles and a throwing error to jump ahead 6-1 in the fourth, but Cavs starting pitcher Ryan Lemonds couldn't record an out in the top of the fifth. DC travels to Pensacola, Florida for two games Saturday before returning to Cavalier Field Sunday against Gulf Coast College.
