New facilities have Lee County excited for football season

August 23rd is going to be a big day for the Lee County football program.

That's the day the Trojans will play Westover on ESPNU. But they'll also be unveiling some brand new facilities.
The process of installing field turf is underway, and coach Dean Fabrizio is confident that the upgraded playing surface will be done by mid-August. The new turf will eliminate some drainage issues, which will allow the team to practice more. It's also safer for the players.

Lee County has also put in a new scoreboard that has a video screen that can play advertisements and instant replays.
The season opener can't get here fast enough in Leesburg.

"To be able to open up the season on ESPN, and to be able to do it here in Lee County," Fabrizio said. "And when you add to that the fact that we're going to be showcasing our new turf field, our new scoreboard, and all these new improvements we have, it's going to be one heck of a day."

In other Lee County football news, offensive lineman Chris Barnes was named to ESPN's list of the top 300 recruits in the class of 2016.
