Monroe girls perform well in final day of state meet

Saturday was the final day of the girls TM state track and field meet at Hugh Mills Stadium, and teams and athletes from all over Southwest Georgia performed well.
The Lady Tornadoes of Monroe finished the meet in second place in 4-A with 67 points, behind Marist with 96 points.
Sophomore Jahari Williams won two more state titles, in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She was also a part of the 4 X 400 relay team that also took first.
In 1-A, Baconton Charter finished in seventh place, with Kimmie Davis winning the 200-meter dash. Mitchell County TMs 4 x 100 relay team also won a state championship.
The Tift County Blue Devils finished in ninth in 6-A competition.
The boys TM meet is next week in Jefferson, Georgia.
