Once just wasn't enough for the Monroe and Westover basketball teams.
Just eight days ago, the two top rivals met for early season dominance with the Tornadoes keeping their record unbeaten. On Saturday, in the U-Save It tournament championship, the two met again and the beat went on for Monroe.
Led by 29 points from Monroe forward Jabari McGhee, the Tornadoes defeated Westover 52-38 at the Albany Civic Center. The defense was the real story for Monroe coming back from a five point halftime deficit.
Even at 10-0 and U-Save It tournament champions, the Tornadoes are still learning a lot about their team.
"To us, it means that we can play together...that we can fight through it. Westover came out with a good first half...we were down by five going in to the half and we fought through it," McGhee said.
"At this point, first half of the season- we've done real well and I think we've reached all of our goals. Now, we've got to go in to the second half of the season. Hopefully this will give us some momentum going in to the second half," Monroe Head Coach Marquis Davis said.
Before region begins again, Monroe's task runs through the Colquitt County Shootout. The Tornadoes tip off in Moultrie on Thursday.
