Local Talent Waiting on Division One offers

In the aftermath of the "Rising Seniors" Georgia Junior Bowl, local talent didn't go unnoticed.

While players from Albany and Monroe High don't have division one offers in their hands at the moment- their time will be coming soon.

Monroe quarterback Charles Stafford was one of those players expecting some attention from college recruiters. Stafford entered the Junior Bowl as the third quarterback for the West team.

In the short amount of time at the camp, Stafford had to basically learn a new offense. Given that short notice, Stafford performed at a high level. Coach Charles Truitt believes Stafford's mental make up may lead to some lofty offers.

"Charles (Stafford) has the talent and the mindset to play at any division one school," Coach Truitt said.

"This week, (Stafford) he had the opportunity to play against some players that have already been heavily recruited by a number of division one schools and was able to shine against those guys."

After a strong showing at the Junior Bowl, Albany linebacker Juwon Young is weighing plenty of interest from some of the nation's best division one programs.

According to the junior, Florida has come on strongest. Georgia, Tennessee and Oregon have also made contact.
