Lee County soccer player, Alexis Roland, has moved around South Georgia during her high school career. For college, the midfielder decided to keep it simple and make her immediate playing plans rather easy.
Roland signed a soccer scholarship with Darton State College Wednesday picking one of the NJCAA programs in the nationâ"and one that is closest to home.
Roland spent her first three high school years in Valdosta before moving back to Lee County for her senior Trojan season. The center midfielder scored five goals, adding six assists this past season.
Lee County head coach Dave Baltenberger says Roland contributed more toward the locker room keeping the atmosphere light with a shining personality.
Roland will look to do the same for her new Lady Cavalier teammates and Darton State head coach Ken Veilands.
"The playing time is a factor, and the level of playing is a factor. They're real good, they have good competition," Roland said. "My family will always be there, and when we have games at Darton they can come. They want have to travel much just to see me play."
Just a month ago, Roland found herself in a recruiting battle. The Lady Trojan verbally committed to Middle Georgia and changed her official decision to Darton State last week.
