College basketball star Christian Laettner is taking his talents to Tifton for the weekend.
Laettner, who starred at Duke before playing in the NBA, is holding his first annual camp on Saturday from 1 to 4 at Tift County High School. On Friday, he worked out and performed drills with the boys and girls of the Tift County basketball program.
In 1992, Laettner hit a game-winning buzzer beater to defeat Kentucky and send the Blue Devils to the Final Four.
"Everybody remembers the game-winning shot," Tift County Head Coach Eric Holland said. "The biggest thing he can tell the kids is the game is never over until the final buzzer."
Laettner knows his experiences can really help the futures of young basketball players.
"I'm going to try to reinforce to them that they have to listen to their parents, they have to listen to their teachers and coaches," Laettner said.
