As the high school basketball season moves towards January, teams all over Southwest Georgia are trying to hit their stride before the holidays. But Deerfield-Windsor and Worth County look like they're already in a groove.
Deerfield-Windsor swept Mount de Sales at home on Tuesday night. The Lady Knights had a big first quarter and rolled to a 43-14 victory. Gordy Gruhl's boys team was up 11 at halftime before almost blowing the lead in the third quarter. The Knights still held on, 53-49.
Albany traveled to Sylvester for a doubleheader with Worth County on Tuesday night. The Lady Indians nearly made a frantic fourth quarter comeback before falling to the Lady Rams by a score of 49-41. Worth County's boys' team continued their hot start with a 19-point victory.
High school basketball will resume on Friday night.
