It's the last week of the regular season for high school football and while some have locked in their paths for the state playoffs, Mitchell County High School is still hard at work.
The Mitchell County Eagles have had an outstanding season and have come a long way since last year. Leading the way for the Eagles is second year head coach Larry Cornelius.
Last year Mitchell County went 5-5 overall and no trip to the state playoffs, that was then and this is now. The Eagles are not only going to the playoffs, but this Friday they compete for a region championship, along with the possibly of home field advantage.
This is not going to be an easy task, as they face off against the GHSA single A number one team in the state; Seminole County. This team has not been beaten all year and sits at a perfect 9-0 overall record.
Kickoff will be on Friday at 7:30 at Seminole County High School.
