Grand Island Wins Second Straight Challenge Cup
Grand Island Club beat out Doublegate, Stonebridge, and River Pointe to win the annual Challenge Cup for the second year in a row.
Each club sent twelve of their best golfers to compete for the cup. They played best-ball on Saturday before switching to a scramble format for the final round on Sunday.
The clubs rotate the location of the tournament every year. Next year, the event will be held at Stonebridge.
Vic McKinley, the retired General Manager of Grand Island, said that the winning club will receive a trophy and, more importantly, bragging rights.
"We've got the Challenge Cup. That's the cup that's got their name on it, the year," McKinley said. "The guys really look forward to this."
