It was a busy night of hoops in Southwest Georgia.
In 4A-1, Westover's boys pulled away late and beat the Dougherty Trojans by a score of 69-54. The Lady Patriots also topped the Lady Trojans, 38-32.
The Albany Indians had a tough night in Cairo against the Syrupmakers. The boys lost, 45-41, and so did the girls, 56-29.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night happened in Sylvester, when the Monroe boys beat the previously undefeated Worth County Rams, 50-43. The Lady Tornadoes also came away with a victory.
In 5-A, the Lee County Trojans had a pair of successful region openers. The boys dominated Hardaway, 67-42. The girls cruised as well by a score of 52-37.
In 6-A, the Tift County Blue Devils held their own against Coffee. The boys won a close one in overtime, 64-61. The girls squeaked by with a win too, 55-48.
In the G.I.S.A., Sherwood Christian had a difficult time with Brookwood at home. The boys fell in an overtime classic, 52-48. The girls made a late push but it wasn't enough and they lost, 40-34.
Deerfield-Windsor took care of business on the road. The boys beat Dominion Christian, 79-43, and the Lady Knights won in a rout, 46-9.
