It was a busy night of high school basketball in Albany on Friday night.
The main event took place at Westover, where a large crowd watched the Patriots take on the Tornadoes. The boys' game was tightly contested, but Westover pulled it out, 54-48. Dunavon Robinson led the way for Dallis Smith's team with 21 points. The girls' game wasn't as close, with region favorite Monroe dominating from start to finish, 54-31.
After a tough night on Sylvester on Tuesday, Albany took to their home court to play Cairo. The boys' held on to a second half lead to win, 57-50. The girls' side was a different story. The Lady Syrupmakers jumped out to a 20-1 lead and never looked back on the way to victory, 59-32.
Dougherty was back at home on Friday night to host Worth County. The Rams stayed undefeated in the region in a defeat of the Trojans, 54-49. On the girls' side, Charlene Jackson's team cruised to a win, 55-25.
Elsewhere, Gordy Gruhl and Deerfield-Windsor defeated Westfield, 79-52.
