It was a busy night of high school basketball in Albany on Friday night.
The main event took place at Westover, where a large crowd watched the Patriots take on the Tornadoes. The boys TM game was tightly contested, but Westover pulled it out, 54-48. Dunavon Robinson led the way for Dallis Smith TMs team with 21 points. The girls TM game wasn TMt as close, with region favorite Monroe dominating from start to finish, 54-31.
After a tough night on Sylvester on Tuesday, Albany took to their home court to play Cairo. The boys TM held on to a second half lead to win, 57-50. The girls TM side was a different story. The Lady Syrupmakers jumped out to a 20-1 lead and never looked back on the way to victory, 59-32.
Dougherty was back at home on Friday night to host Worth County. The Rams stayed undefeated in the region in a defeat of the Trojans, 54-49. On the girls TM side, Charlene Jackson TMs team cruised to a win, 55-25.
Elsewhere, Gordy Gruhl and Deerfield-Windsor defeated Westfield, 79-52.
