The coming and going is part of the process for junior college programs said Albany Tech basketball coach Sylvester Patterson on Friday morning.
The positive aspect of that process was on display at the ATC campus on Friday. Four Titans sophomores signed on with four-year universities to continue their education and play basketball.
Two Titans, Justin Wilcox and Tyrell Johnson, won't be going far. The duo heads down the road where they will be wearing Albany State blue and gold in 2011. Michael Cofield is heading west to Miles College in Alabama. While Duran Blue is making the move to Lee University in Tennessee.
"It just means that the program is real successful. That's how you measure a program not by wins and losses, by how many guys move on with their education. We like to reload every year, but with the tradition we have nowâ|I think guys come in knowing what's expected of them. I think that's a good thing," Patterson said.
Patterson followed up that junior college process with a signing of his own. Colquit County shooting guard Trey White signed with the Titans this afternoon in Moultrie. White averaged 10 points and six rebounds for the Packers this season.
