For most programs, a winning season and a berth in the state playoffs would mark a successful season. That's not the case in Fitzgerald.
The Purple Hurricanes are used to region titles and deep postseason runs, and they plan on meeting that standard once again this season.
"The expectations here are very high," head coach Jason Strickland said.
The team's outlook for this season is optimistic. They're inexperienced on the offensive line and in the secondary, but they have a stable of returning backs and they're solid up front defensively.
They're also hungry.
"We're going to run through whoever wants to go through us," senior outside linebacker Caleb Ray proclaimed.
"We're certainly confident," Strickland said. "When you see all these guys showing up every day and working the way they're working, I think that gives you reason to be confident."
Fitzgerald will scrimmage against Hawkinsville on August 15th and then open the regular season against Worth County on August 22nd.
