Dougherty hoops off to a good start under Randolph

Ty Randolph

It's the first summer of Ty Randolph's tenure as basketball coach at Dougherty High, and things are going well.

The Trojans won a summer team tournament last weekend at Valdosta State. They'll compete in similar tournaments in the coming weeks at Florida State and Columbus State.

In summer practices, Randolph has been thrilled with his team's basketball IQ. The Dougherty players are absorbing his concepts and putting them into action.

"This is a hungry group of kids," Randolph said. "We have an ultimate goal of winning a championship, so we know what we have to work for on a daily basis."

The Trojans will return most of their roster in 2014-2015.
