Dougherty hoops moves on with Hayes at the helm

Even with a change at the top, it's full steam ahead for Dougherty boys' basketball.

Head coach Donald Poole resigned from his post on December 31st, and the school's administration tabbed Ty Hayes as the interim replacement.

For the most part, things have stayed the same for the Trojans. But under Hayes, there's been an increased emphasis on discipline and details.

"We need to improve on boxing out more, so our team has more chances to score," said freshman David Quimby. "And we're improving more on getting back on defense, taking charges."

Dougherty sits at 2-3 in the region right now and they're right in the thick of the playoff race. They play Westover on Friday night and Albany on Saturday.

"It's crunch time," Hayes said.
