Darton wrestling starts season with the mixed results
The Darton State wrestling team couldn't hold on to a late lead on Wednesday night and fell to Brewton-Parker in a dual meet, 20-19.
The Cavaliers have had some uneven results in the early part of the season. According to head coach James Hicks, the performance at tournaments in November ranged from good to bad. However, the coaching staff has identified some areas for growth: improving in the bottom position and finishing takedowns.
The Cavaliers return only three starters from last year's team that finished third in the region. But as the only junior college program in Georgia, Darton wrestling is on the upswing.
"We're in the process of building our brand as a program and getting more well-known nationally," Hicks said.
