Darton Women's Soccer Earns a Second Chance
The Darton College women's soccer hasn't lost a game in a month in a half. The Cavaliers fell to Brevard Community College in a heated 1-0 contest on Sept. 11 at the Darton Soccer Complex.
The Cavaliers have their chance at revenge against the Titans this Saturday. Darton and Brevard will once again play at the soccer complex- this time it will be for the District F title. The winner will move on to the NJCAA National Championships
"I told the girls, the script is written for you- it's a beautiful set-up," Cavaliers Head Coach Ken Veilands said.
The previous match-up between the two teams ended in some drama. The game ended without handshakes between the coaches as both men had words for each other. Veilands wasn't pleased with how the Titans packed its squad behind midfield for most of the game. However, the Cavaliers still had opportunities to win the early season contest with 28 total shots.
Even without a district championship on the line, the Cavaliers have plenty of incentive this weekend.
"The reality is in a game like that...you have opportunities you don't finish them. If there's a game that we are going to be pumped up for, can't wait for, it's going to be this one," Veilands said.
Saturday's 6 pm district title game will be the final home game of the season at the Darton Complex. The NJCAA National Championship will be hosted back in Melbourne, Florida by Brevard Community College.
