The superlatives keep flying at the Darton State College men's soccer team as the Cavaliers continue on their winning streak. On Wednesday, the undefeated, number one ranked Cavaliers streaked to the NJCAA National Semifinals.
Darton State only needed a tie against Western Texas to advance to Friday's Final Four, but this team prefers to make bigger statements than a tie.
The Cavaliers held Western Texas without a shot on goal while cruising to a 3-0 victory. Darton State will face Tyler (Texas) Junior College in a rematch from the second game of the season.
The Cavaliers won that match 2-1 and a similar result will put Head Coach Bart Sasnett's crew in Saturday's NJCAA National Championship
On Wednesday, the Cavaliers kept all of the pressure on Western Texas. Jowayne Laidley started the scoring 15 minutes in to the game thanks to the constant fight from All-American midfielder Troy Tucker.
Tucker sliced through three defenders near the box before the ball deflected out toward Laidley. With only one defender to beat, Laidley took over from there for the opening goal.
In the second half, All-Region forward Andrew Palumbo sealed any doubt with two goals for the decisive victory.
