The Darton State and Albany Tech basketball teams kept their healthy rivalry going another night.
Built on mutual respect, both teams entered this game building some solid momentum as Darton State continued to lead region 17 and Albany Tech was looking to build on its two game-winning streak.
On Wednesday, the Cavaliers and sophomore Chan Fann held all of the bragging rights dismantling the Lady Titans in the second half for a 65-46 win at Cavalier Arena.
Darton State led by eight at the half before Fann scored 11 of her 19 points to propel the Cavs to their 24th victory of the season.
"It puts us in a definite tie for first place no matter what else happens, but we don't want that," Cavaliers head coach Lea Henry said. "We're in a situation with one more win, and we'll win the regular season. That's a big accomplishment for our team."
"It's very important. We don't want to go anywhere else to play. We want the tournament to be here," Fann added
Darton State can clinch the region's number one seed with a victory against East Georgia State next Wednesday at Cavalier Arena. With the victory, the Cavs would host the Region 17 tournament.
