Darton State Baseball Maintains with Impressive Sweep

Darton State baseball set out a plan this week to keep their first place standing in the GCAA. The Cavaliers needed three wins in four games against Gordon College. With some clutch hitting, the team accomplished that feat on Saturday.

Next step, add to the accomplishment with something sweeter- a series sweep.

Keyed by a bevy of Cavalier pitching, Darton State exploded with six runs in the bottom of the eighth innings for a 9-2 win over Gordon Sunday at Cavalier Field.

Cavalier pitcher Kyle Conkle earned his fifth win of the season allowing one earned run in four innings of work.

Former Westover pitcher Robert Daniel threw six innings of relief for Gordon College allowing four earned runs. Daniel kept Gordon in the game until the eighth when the Cavs added some breathing room against its conference foe.

At 20-4 in the GCAA, Darton State maintains its position a top of the standings. The key series' continue with a four game set against Middle Georgia College (22-6) this week.
