Darton State Advances to GCAA Championship

Entering the GCAA loser's bracket, Darton State baseball was forced in to an extended title road. From Thursday to Saturday, the Cavaliers needed two wins each day for the program's first baseball region championship.

Darton State jumped every obstacle to advance to Saturday's GCAA Championship series.

Brandon Sharpe hit a two-run home run against Gordon College which proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win. The Cavaliers outlasted West Georgia Tech in the nightcap winning 13-5 in eight innings.

The win provides another rematch against rival Middle Georgia. Darton State lost to the Warriors 4-3 in 10 innings in Thursday's tournament game, and has one win in five match ups against Middle this season.

First pitch for the GCAA Championship is set for noon Saturday. If Darton State wins, the two teams meet again thirty minutes after the first game to decide the conference champion.
