Early on, it looked to be an uneven season for Darton State golf. But lately, the Cavs have been swinging it better than they have all season.
Dale Dover and Gary Hilton's boys are playing their best golf as they head into regionals this weekend in Fort Gaines. They won the Ron Marshall spring fling two weeks ago by a whopping 17 strokes.
Darton's had some time off for spring break, but now they're rested and optimistic about their outlook for the remainder of the season.
"We had a few days off for spring break, which I think is good for everybody," sophomore Madison Turner said. "Played yesterday and hit the ball, I think, as good as I have all year."
The Cavaliers have regionals this weekend and then the District IV Championships in two weeks. But winning the next two tournaments isn't the ultimate goal.
"Nationals is what it's all about and that's what we're trying to get to," Hilton said.
