Dale Dover likes the team he has this season. He's just not pleased with the results so far.
The Darton golf team came in fifth place out of twelve teams at the Thomas University Invitational over the weekend. After the first day, they were only behind by one stroke. But a few mental mistakes led to bad bogeys on day two and the Cavaliers lost their chance at winning the tournament.
Dover and assistant head coach Gary Hilton think the mistakes are correctable. More importantly, there's plenty of room for improvement on a team mostly comprised of freshmen.
"We're just gonna continue to go back and work on short game more," Dover said. "We're gonna continue to try to work on our mental approach to certain holes and just try to get better in those areas."
The next tournament for Darton will be here in Albany. They'll host the District IV Preview at Stonebridge Golf and Country Club on October 21st.
