      Darton anticipates big seasons

      Darton State soccer is back.

Bart Sasnett TMs men and Ken Veilands and the women have started official practice, and they TMve done so with some expectations. The men are ranked eighth in the NJCAA preseason polls, and the women are seventh.

But both coaches know that doesn TMt mean much.

We take these small, attainable goals, and if we keep attaining those goals we should be in the national tournament, Veilands said.

Veilands forecasts a different style for this season TMs team, one that TMs more possession-oriented and balanced. The Lady Cavs have several players back. Brianna Lemerise, Janay Campbell, and Kristy Gash are among the key pieces returning.

We TMve got to step up our game, Gash said. And hopefully do better than last year.

The men TMs team has only two starters back from a year ago, Darwin Espinal and goalkeeper Adam Cahill. There TMs plenty of talent, but not much continuity.

Coach Sasnett is looking forward to this weekend TMs preseason scrimmage.

I TMm just hoping to see us come together and build a little rhythm, Sasnett said.

The Darton men will scrimmage Thomas University on Sunday in Thomasville. The women will scrimmage on Saturday and Sunday at home.

Both teams open their season at home on August 27th against Georgia Military.
