All-region pitcher Davis Adkins is staying in the Southwest Georgia region to embark on his college career.
The Crisp County senior signed a baseball scholarship with Darton College on Tuesday in Cordele. Adkins anchored the Cougars pitching staff for the last three seasons taking Crisp to back-to-back second round playoff appearances.
The AAA, All-Region 1 pitcher finished his high school career with a 20-5 record and a 0.7 ERA. The senior says the Cavaliers coaching staff made the difference in his Darton decision.
I know that Coach (Scot) Hemmings turned everything around and that was another good thing that swayed me towards there. He TMs a good coach and I TMm lucky to be a part of his team. They TMre going to get me on a good workout program|strengthen me up|maybe throw a little bit harder and grow in to a good pitcher, Adkins said.
Adkins expects to be used as a long reliever/spot starter in his first season at Darton. He is the first Crisp County player to sign with Cavaliers baseball under Cougars Head Coach Bill Pate
