It's been a long time coming for the Crisp County Cougars baseball team. Year after year winning regional titles and make appearances in the GHSA state playoffs, the Cougars have fallen short of a chance to compete for the state championship. After tonight Crisp County has finally reached the state championship game.

The Cougars played Alexander High School for the final four match-up. In game one, Crisp had a slow start at the plate until the third inning when they earned four runs for the lead. The Cougars didn't stop there after scoring three more runs later for a final score of 7-2. In game two it only got sweeter for the region 1-AAAA champs as they hosted a shut-out for game two for a final score of 3-0.

The sweep was their first of the post season and the Cougars have not earned a state title in any sport since 1961.
