Cavaliers Hold Strong at Andrew College

Series sweep on the minds of the Darton State baseball team and the wins are becoming more meaningful. The top team in the conference kept their title Saturday against Andrew College.

Darton State completed a sweep of Andrew College with 7-2 and 5-0 victories in Cuthbert. In game two, pitcher Kyle Conkle threw six innings of shutout ball striking out eight batters.

"We knew that we had the upper hand coming in to the latter half of the series. That never kept us down," Conkle said.

Reydel Gonzalez added a pivotal two-RBI single in game two to give the Cavaliers some breathing room.

"We really put the ball in play and we made the defense work. It's just great to know that you've got guys that can come out there and back you up," pitcher John Harman said.

The Cavaliers, 28-5 on the season, 15-1 in the GCAA, stay in South Georgia next week against ABAC.
