The Crisp Academy Wildcats have appeared in three straight state titles and are on the verge of back to back GISA-A baseball championships. A dynasty has been created in Cordele where the Wildcats just continue to reload.
Crisp had to replace six seniors from their 2011 state championship run, but they're back in the championship series facing a team they know so well- the Westwood Wildcats.
"We know each other just about as good as the other. I mean we've been going at it strong for the past few years. They've definitely been our team to beat this year and even last year," Crisp Academy first baseman Jordan Howard said.
Last year, Crisp Academy swept the Wildcats for the trophy. Starting Friday, the region rivalry continues with another run for the title.
"It should be a pretty evenly matched game. We're going to have to stay mental in this game to come out on top...it's definitely a rivalry though," Crisp Academy ace pitcher James Bodrey said.
The Crisp Academy-Westwood season series is tied at one this season with Westwood holding home field advantage for this decisive series. Friday's game one and Saturday's game two start at 1 PM in Camilla.
