Breaking records and winning big
Darton State College's women's soccer program is one that has been recognized throughout the country as one of the best and now that the region 17 finals game is over they proved it again.
With the 2013 region 17 championship title on the line for Darton, their was only one team that stood in the way; Georgia Perimeter College.
Entering the match-up the only lost in over a month came from Georgia Perimeter College, so walking out on the field the lady Cavaliers were not going to let history repeat itself.
Darton State College dominated this game from start to finish scoring two goals in the first half. (Lyana Perez scored both) Starting off in the second half, not even five minutes into game play Megan Thomas scores on a long shot. In the final minutes and the final goal Brianna Lemerise scored earning Darton its fourth goal of the day.
For the third year in a row Darton State College wins big over Georgia Perimeter College 4-0. Along with the win head coach Ken Veilands earned coach of the year, and Lyana Perez earning player of the year.
With the region championship behind them, this tough lady Cavaliers team will take their talents for a shot at nationals in Melbourne, FL.
