The Tift County football program is just going to keep on climbing.
Even though they are in 6A-1, arguably Georgia's toughest region, John Reid's program is trending upwards entering his third season at the school. They went winless in the region in 2012, but won two games last year.
This year the Blue Devils plan on making the playoffs, but they're taking it slow.
"From top to bottom, there is no break," Reid said about this season's schedule. "We do it down by down, series by series, quarter by quarter."
The coaching staff feels like the team is strong in many areas. They've added more depth and the kids now understand the system and philosophies of the program.
The next step is to leap into the postseason.
"This program needs to make the playoffs," Reid said. "That would be a big step for us."
The road begins Friday night in a scrimmage against Worth County.
