Summer is the best time for young baseball players to develop, and the Tifton Timbers are taking full advantage.
The Timbers began as a travel baseball team a few years ago. This week's game is mostly about making kids better, but it's also about fundraising and evaluating.
The team is hoping to play in a tournament in Omaha next season, so they're using this week's camp to evaluate some new players and fill out the roster.
"We hope we give them an opportunity to further their baseball career in travel baseball," said Timbers coach Allan Futch.
Former ABAC coach Steve Janousek is putting on the camp for the team. During the three-day clinic, he'll cover the basics of hitting, bunting, baserunning, and pitching.
