ASU turns attention to Delta State

For the Albany State women's basketball team, it's about bouncing back.

The Lady Rams were crushed last weekend when they blew a late lead and ultimately lost to Benedict in the SIAC championship game. But they were granted an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament, so coach Robert Skinner knows it's time to look ahead.

Five-seeded ASU will play Delta State, a traditional power, on Friday in Fort Lauderdale.

"There's no room for mistakes," Skinner said. "You've got to go out there and play a lot of heads up basketball and play with a level of intelligence."

The girls are disappointed about last weekend, but remain a confident bunch heading into the tournament.

"Continue playing great defense, of course," point guard Mecca Frost said when asked about what was needed to make a deep run. "And I don't feel anybody can stop our offense because we have so many different options."
