Practice for Albany State University kicks off on August 12th, but before any player steps out on the field, they must first step into a doctor's office for a physical examination.

This year the university teamed up with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to handle all of their athlete's physicals.

This is not the first year Phoebe Hospital has partnered up with Albany State, but it is the first time in recent years.

It is important for each athlete to get examined carefully and closely, while finding out if they have any history with previous injuries or illnesses before putting the pads on.

ASU Athletic Director Dr. Richard Williams says "with recent injury updates, it is mandated by the university and NCAA for each player to get physically cleared before stepping out on the field come Monday."

Phoebe Putney provided all the sports medicine resources for the Golden Rams, with the goal of getting every player cleared and ready for practice by Monday.
