Albany State baseball is back in session.

Official practice started earlier this month with one goal in mind: win the SIAC. Last year's team finished third, and with some key pieces returning, the Rams think this could be the year.

"We have the best talent in the conference," said senior Jacob Campbell. "It's just putting it all together."

First team all-conference shortstop Allen Hardy is back in the fold, along with second teamer Robert Latner and several arms at the top of the rotation. If Ken Conner's team can throw strikes, play good defense, and do some of the little things offensively, it could be a special year for the Golden Rams.

"Since day one, the conference championship has been in our locker room, and that's what we want," Hardy said.

To gain some excitement for the season, ASU baseball will host their First Pitch Reception on Friday night at 7 in Lovett Hall. Coaches and players will be in attendance.

Opening day is February 1st against Miles College at Albany State.
