Another Westover Patriot is taking his football talents to the college ranks.
A week after Brenten Wimberly signed with Georgia Military College, running back Shannon Saunders signed with Missouri Southern on Wednesday.
Coach Octavia Jones raves about Saunders' strength and athleticism and is confident he can do some damage in college. A main reason for that: Saunders can focus solely on the running back position after playing on both sides of the ball at Westover.
"When he gets to college they're just going to play him at running back," Jones said. "Working on his cuts, working on following his lead blockers, things of that nature."
Saunders rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2013 and scored eight touchdowns, while averaging nearly seven yards per carry.
