It's a new basketball season at Albany Tech. But for the coaches and players, it'll also be a new style of hoops for the Titans.
After a disappointing season in 2012-2013, head coach Sylvester Patterson is rolling out a new brand of basketball this year. They're going to transition into a team that plays at a faster tempo on offense and pressures the ball more on defense.
"We went after a lot of athletes, a lot of guys that can get up and down the floor to play the style that we want to play," Patterson said. "We want to be an up-tempo team."
The players think the change will lead to some success.
"We really want to play a run-and-gun type of style," said Kymon Woods, a transfer that will play forward for the Titans. "We really don't want to slow it down. We want to be in the 70's and 80's, not 40's and 50's."
Albany Tech will continue to try to master their new system when they travel to Alabama to play Faulkner State Community College this weekend.
