Big, powerhouse Division 1 basketball programs often hold "Midnight Madness" events to signify the beginning of a new season. Albany Tech basketball brought the same celebration to fans, students, and the community on Tuesday night.
The men's and women's teams both participated in the night's festivities. The Titans competed in a slam dunk contest, a three point shootout, and a scrimmage.
This is the first time Albany Tech has done a "Midnight Madness" since 2010.
"We thought it was time to bring it back," said men's head coach Sylvester Patterson.
With the start of practice nearing, Patterson insists his team will be a quicker, more athletic bunch than in the past. He plans on picking up the pace this year and feels the Titans have recruited well to that style.
"We got a lot of athletes out on the wing that can get out and run," Patterson said. "We want to really push the tempo."
