Albany State wins on Homecoming

Homecoming tends to be the biggest time of the year for fans, alumni, parents, and students to get together to show support of their school. Albany State each year host a long week of festivities leading up to the games on Saturday. Entering the match up the Golden Rams were looking to end a three game losing streak. For the lady Golden Rams it was a bit different, they were looking to earn a three game winning streak.

Starting with the ladies, ASU had the lead entering halftime 33-28 over Fort Valley State and that is where they would remain. The lady Golden Rams earned the win 74-64 with the help of Artisha Holston, who recorded her third straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The win gives ASU a 8-3 record in the SIAC putting them second in the East Division behind Benedict College.

Following the ladies victory over FVSU, the Golden Rams were looking to bounce back on homecoming night. After a great start in the first half Albany State held the largest lead of the game by 21 points and Fort Valley could not catch up. ASU would end their losing streak with a win on homecoming 98-90 over Fort Valley State. The Golden Rams are 3-7 in the conference and 7-11 overall. Albany State returns to action in HPER Gym on 2-2-15 against Clark Atlanta University, tip off starts at 5:30.
