Albany State gives Rivers the nod

Albany State football finally named a starting quarterback on Tuesday.

The man under center against North Greenville on Saturday will be Frank Rivers, a transfer from Grambling State.

Rivers had to earn the job, though. Offensive coordinator Steve Smith wanted to be sure he could grasp the offense and be able to move the team down field. Head coach Mike White wants Rivers to take the job and run with it, without having any controversy last throughout the season.

Rivers is a big, physical athlete. At six foot five, he also played baseball at Grambling State and may continue to do so at ASU.
