While high school teams try to take home the hardware this month, one local Pop Warner team has already earned a trophy.
The Georgia Sting's ten-and-under team won the Southeast National Football Championship on Sunday after playing five games in three days. Next weekend, they'll travel to Conyers to compete in the Prep Youth Football Association National Championships.
It's been a grind for the Pop Warner team during their 18-2 season. But for the coaches and players, it's all been worth it.
"They're not a big team, they're all small guys. But they play with a lot of heart," said head coach Ivory Williams. "It's a great team."
