Darton State College's soccer programs have been waiting all year for this weekend's region 17 tournament. The championship game is not until Sunday starting at noon, but both men's and women's team competed in the semi-finals round today.

The women's team would kick it off first facing off against Middle Georgia College and the winner would advance to the finals. Entering the match-up the lady Cavaliers are on a hot 10 game winning streak.

This game did not take long for Darton to get on the board first with Shanese Bowen striking in the first goal just 20 minutes into the match.

Going into the half the lady Cavaliers would go up 2-0 and not stopping in the second half scoring three more times. The lady Cavaliers would win over Middle Georgia College 5-1 and advance to the finals.

As for the men, they would struggle a bit in their match up against Eastern Florida. Entering the contest as a number one seed and facing off against a tough number four seed the Cavaliers would get tested.

An intense first half without a single goal for either team, but for Eastern Florida they would put on heavy pressure against Darton. That pressure would carry over to the second half of play while giving Eastern Florida the win 2-0.

The stage is set for the region 17 championship. For the Women's, Darton State College against Georgia Perimeter College at 12pm, as for the men, Eastern Florida also against Georgia Perimeter College at 2 pm.
