4A-1 Hoops Tournament Continues

Day two of the 4A-1 region basketball tournament is now complete.

The stakes were high on Tuesday at Westover High School. The day's winners clinched a spot in the state playoffs, while the teams that lost were done for the season.

Dougherty's girls beat up on Americus-Sumter, 51-40, to set up a date with the undefeated Monroe Lady Tornadoes on Thursday. Westover's girls barely held on to beat Cairo, 51-47. The Lady Patriots will play Crisp County at 4 o'clock on Thursday.

In the boys' games, Albany and Monroe met up in a rematch of Saturday night. The Indians won again, this time by a score of 59-56. Archie Chatmon's team will meet up with Westover on Thursday. Crisp County's boys took care of business against Americus-Sumter, 56-43, to set up a date with Worth County in the next round.

The tournament will continue on Thursday at Monroe High School.
