During the winter sports high school basketball grabs most of the attention, but wrestling finds itself on the rise. This week was the 1st Inaugural Quad Meet hosted at the Marines Corps Logistics Base. The event attracted Lee County, Colquitt County, Tift County, and Thomas County Central.

On base all four high schools got the chance to see what the competition is like throughout Southwest Georgia. The Coach putting on the show is Head Coach Tom Matheny from Lee County.

Matheny said, "we wanted to partner up with MCLB and put on an event for the community to come out and enjoy, and so far we have had a great turn out."

Joining the varsity teams of each school was also the youth program out of Lee county called, Trojan Wrestling Club. The Trojan Wrestling Club makes up of about 25 kids, who got the chance to wrestle one another, and of course put on a show for their parents.

With a large crowd at hand and the schools getting a chance for some early competition, the hopes of this becoming an annual event are pretty good.
