Albany State loses heartbreaker to Fort Valley State
The Albany State women's basketball team had a chance to pick up a huge win over Fort Valley State on Saturday, but the Lady Golden Rams fell, 65-63, on senior night.
The Rams were down three with under a minute left when Ieshia Young stole the ball and scored the bucket in transition to make it a one-point game with 43 seconds left.
Following a pair of free throws, the Rams took the lead, but fouled Daknequa White with 13 seconds left. The guard knocked down the first free throw, but missed the second to make it a 63-63 game.
The Rams got the defensive board, but a cross-court pass was stolen by Iyuna Dugger and she gave it to Shereba Montgomery for the game-winning bucket.
Montgomery led Fort Valley State with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Keidra Green at 16 points for Albany State.
