Statesboro police arrest two in connection with armed robbery, kidnapping (SPD)

Statesboro police have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping that took place last Saturday on Robinhood Trail.

According to a news release, on August 5, around 3 a.m., officers were called to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in reference to a possible armed robbery and kidnapping that happened at a home on Robinhood Trail earlier that night.

Officers met with the victim at the hospital and launched an investigation.

Detectives identified Trevon Malik Cray, 23, of Statesboro, as one of two suspects in the case who were caught on surveillance video..

Police obtained warrants for Cray's arrest, and Cray turned himself in on August 9.

Cray has been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of kidnapping.

Cray remains in custody awaiting further court action, the release said.

On August 10, police said the second suspect had been taken into custody.

That suspect has been identified as Nathaniel James Pace.

Pace has also been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of kidnapping.

Mayor Jan Moore said, "Again, I would like to thank our police department, and all who have worked on this case, for their around-the-clock efforts. We are a safer community for their efforts. The victim and his family remain in our prayers and continue to remind us all that we are one community in support of each other. No random act of criminal violence perpetrated on an innocent victim can take that away."

The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with further information concerning the case is asked to call the Statesboro Police Department at 912-764-9911.
